The Hamilton Golf and Country Club is a special place where membership is privilege, extended to men and women who have pride in their club and show respect for it and fellow members. The following information is intended to make your time at the club truly enjoyable. The club expects all members and their guests to adhere to the following standards befitting a fine private club. If you have any questions either before or during your visit, please ask your host, or contact the club at 905-648-4471, and speak to main reception.
Dress Code – Clubhouse
Specific To Entering/Exiting the Parking Lot: Upon arrival or departure, relaxed dress, including denim, will be permitted for members as they traverse the paved parking areas and proceed directly to and from their respective locker room entrances. Flip-flop type sandals remain prohibited. Members must enter their respective locker rooms using the entrance facing the parking area and must not deviate to club pathways, Clubhouse, dining or lounge areas, Practice Ranges, Short Game Practice Area, Putting Green, Golfer Services or Professional Shop. This revised policy, while relaxed to benefit members, is designed to be tightly restricted and limited. Changing of shoes or clothing in the parking lot is not permitted.
Clubhouse:
a) Upper level clubhouse: Great Hall, Main Dining Room, Upper Lounges/Rooms and Board Room.
b) Lower level clubhouse: Pub Sol, Mixed Lounge, Grill Room and patios.
a) Upper level of clubhouse dress code:
The upper level of the clubhouse is meant to provide a more formal area of the Club, adhering to the traditional values and rich history of a club originated in 1894. May vary based on events and must be approved beforehand.
Men and Junior Boys:
• Collared shirt, jacket required, tie event dependent. Boys under 13 do not require a jacket.
• All shirts must be tucked in always.
• No denim permitted.
Women and Junior Girls:
• Appropriate comparable attire.
• No denim permitted.
Note: Upper level of the clubhouse dress codes may change according to various events.
Exceptions will be noted in the event announcement.
b) Lower level clubhouse dress code:
The lower level of the clubhouse is meant to provide a less formal, more casual ambiance, where casual après-golf activity can occur, but also catering to more upscale lounging/dining in the Grill Room, mixed lounge and patios.
Men and Junior Boys:
• All golfing area’s dress codes are acceptable.
• Fashionable denim trousers are permitted in lower levels of the clubhouse. Denim must not have tears, be faded or be work pants.
• Denim shirts, shorts or jackets are not permitted.
• Golf joggers are permitted.
• Fashionable sports/casual shirts may be worn untucked in lower levels of the clubhouse. No tshirts.
• No hoodies, track pants or tracksuits. Jackets with full zipper and hood are permitted.
• Golf shirts and dress shorts must be tucked in always. Fashionable casual shirts may be worn untucked in lower areas of the clubhouse. No t-shirts.
• A collar shirt must be worn under a sweater that does not have a collar.
• No corporate or sports team logos on clothing.
• Fashionable sandals with covered toes may be worn in the lower levels of the clubhouse. No flipflops.
• Men may wear shoes without socks in the lower levels of the clubhouse.
• Socks should be knee length, ankle length or low cut sockettes.
• No hats may be worn in any area of the clubhouse apart from the patio.
Women and Junior Girls:
• All golfing areas dress codes are acceptable.
• Fashionable denim trousers are permitted in lower levels of the clubhouse. Denim must not have tears, be faded or be work pants.
• Denim shirts, shorts, dresses or jackets are not permitted.
• No low necklines, bare midriff, sheer or cut-out tops. No t-shirts or bra showing.
• No hoodies, track pants or tracksuits. Jackets with full zipper and hood are permitted.
• No leggings and Yoga pants.
• No corporate or sports team related logos on clothing.
• Golf sandals and dress sandals are permitted in the clubhouse. No flip-flops.
• Hats may be worn in the clubhouse and on the patio.

• Slacks must be tailored, pressed and non-faded. Cargo pants are not permitted.
• Golf shorts must be tailored and knee-length.
• Golf joggers are permitted.
• Denim is not permitted.
• Soft spikes and spikeless golf shoes must be worn on the golf course.
• Running shoes may be worn with permission from the Professional Shop for health/medical issues.
• Socks should be knew-length, ankle length or low cut sockettes.
• A collared shirt must be worn under a sweater that does not have a collar.
• Golf shirts and dress shirts must be tucked in always. No t-shirts.
• No hoodies, track pants or tracksuits. Jackets with full zipper and hood are permitted.
• Golf related logos only on all garments. No sports team or corporate logos.
• Caps and visors may not be worn backwards and must be removed upon entrance to the clubhouse.
Women and Junior Girls:
• Slacks (including Capri pants) must be tailored and pressed. Cargo pants are not permitted.
• Leggings and Yoga pants may only be worn under appropriate golf attire (eg. shorts, skirts, skorts).
• Denim is not permitted.
• Shorts, skirts and skorts must be a conservative length.
• Tops must have a collar and/or sleeves. They must be tucked in, except those tailored to be worn out. No t-shirts.
• No hoodies, track pants or tracksuits. Jackets with full zipper and hood are permitted.
• Soft spikes and spikeless golf shoes must be worn on the golf course.
• Running shoes may be worn with permission from the Professional Shop for health/medical issues.
• Golf related logos only on all garments. No sports team or corporate logos.
• Golf sandals without socks are allowed on the course.
Dress Code – Colt’s Corner
Colt’s Corner (simulators) is considered a golfing area. All aspects of the Dress Code apply. Also, due to wear on upper level floors and carpets, golfers are asked to wear athletic (running) footwear only. No spikes.

Golf Information
Hamilton Golf and Country Club is a walking course. Pace of play is essential to the enjoyment of all. If you require a golf cart, your host will make the necessary arrangements. If you are driving a cart, please follow all directional signs and use cart paths when designated to do so. Properly raked bunkers are essential to the playability of HGCC. Even if you are playing a late afternoon or evening round, please rake the bunkers. By adhering to these important matters, we believe everyone’s HGCC golfing experience will be enhanced.
Cell Phone / Electric Device Policy
HGCC provides in-house wi-fi for the convenience of our members and their guests. Mobile devices and tablets must be in silent mode at all times. The respectful use of devices is permitted in data form, to check email and text messages throughout the clubhouse and on the golf course. The “phone” function of cellular devices is prohibited in all social spaces and shared areas of the clubhouse, including all patios. They may be used in the locker rooms, club offices inside booked meeting rooms during business or committee meetings (when available). They may be used in the parking lot. Members are encouraged to carry their cellular phones in a silent/vibrate position, in case of emergency, while on club property.
Smoking Policy
No smoking, use of cannabis and/or vaping anywhere inside the clubhouse. Must be nine metres from all doorways and not permitted on patios, terraces or fire pit.
Parking Lot
Shoes may not be changed in the parking lot. Occasionally, vehicles may be left in the parking lot overnight with approval from the duty manager.
Credit Cards
Guests may use the “Member for a Day” program to purchase; greens fees, merchandise and accessories in the Professional Shop, as well as, for all food and beverage purchases, with a credit card. Otherwise, members are expected to put the purchase of guest rounds and all food and beverage, in and out of the clubhouse (half way houses) on their accounts. Guests, who are members at other approved clubs, are welcome to sign back all purchases to their home clubs.
Tipping
Tipping of Golfer Services staff, caddies and Food & Beverage staff is permitted at the discretion of the member or their guests.
Business Meetings
“Open briefcase” meetings are not permitted in member areas. Please call the Catering & Events Manager to arrange and book a meeting facility.
Liquor Licence Act
Your club is licensed to serve alcohol under the Liquor License Act. The club has a variety of obligations under the Act, including a duty not to over serve club patrons.
In addition to its obligations under the Act, the club has a legal and moral duty to prevent patrons from becoming intoxicated and posing a risk to themselves and others. Failure of the club or its patrons to meet these obligations may result in loss of the club’s liquor license and in significant civil liability to the club.
Members are expected to refrain from driving, and to discourage fellow members and their guests from driving, when they should not be in custody of an automobile.
Members are assumed to know their legal and moral obligations respecting drinking and driving. Members and guests are also expected to behave responsibly and not to create risks for themselves, our staff, third parties or this club.
Taxi Service
Members and guests are encouraged to not drink and drive. Occasionally, vehicles may be left in the parking lot overnight with approval from the duty manager. Members have the ability to sign taxi charges back to their house account. Blue Line Taxi also provides a service where they will send two drivers to the club, and one will drive your vehicle home for you.

From Toronto: Take Gardiner Expressway West – Merge on to Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) and then 403 West to Mohawk Road in Hamilton. Follow Mohawk Road – Turn Left onto McNiven Road – Turn Right onto Golf Links Road – Turn left at Halson Street into the golf club.
From Niagara Falls: Take Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) East towards Toronto – Take the Red Hill Valley Parkway exit toward Airport – Continue onto the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway West – Use left lane to take exit toward Rousseaux Street. Follow Mohawk Road – Turn Left onto McNiven Road – Turn Right onto Golf Links Road – Turn left at Halson Street into the golf club.
From Windsor/London: Take Highway 401 East – Merge onto Highway 403 East – Take exit 58 for Wilson Street West – Turn left onto Wilson Street – At the roundabout, continue straight onto Wilson Street West/Wilson Meadowbrook Roundabout/Wilson Traffic Circle. Turn right onto Halson Street – Continue straight in the club at Golf Links Road.
